American youth players shining in Europe

In May 2017, Next Gen USA competed in the Rood Wit U10 tournament in the Netherlands. Next Gen USA, a youth development platform dedicated to the development of promising young players from the USA, was one of 24 elite youth teams to compete in this tournament. They had the chance to match their talents against many of the biggest clubs in European soccer.

With 24 teams from 10 different countries, the level of the tournament was extremely high. Next Gen USA played against teams like Red Bull Leipzig (Germany), Ajax (the Netherlands), Everton FC (England), RSC Anderlecht (Belgium), KRC Genk (Belgium), Crossfire Premier (USA), Real Madrid (Spain) and Paris Saint-Germain (France). They finished in 7th place; an impressive achievement!

Next Gen USA recognizes the value competing in international tournaments brings to young players. Tony Williams (director of youth develpoment at Next Gen USA): "This was another tremendous developmental growth experience for the boys. In order for the most promising young players in U.S. to reach their potential, we must be competing against the best players in the world as often and as young as possible. I believe to finish 7th in a tournament of such distinguished clubs is an incredible achievement for these young players. It highlights that getting best-with-best and exposing them to challenging environments, really does help accelerate player development. When there is collaboration, and a 'what's best for the kids' mentality, America really does have talent."

The Rood-Wit tournament is organized by AcademyTrips.com in cooperation with Dutch amateur club Rood Wit. Earlier this year, Next Gen USA U15 competed at the Rotterdam Football Cup, another elite youth tournament organized by AcademyTrips.com in cooperation with Dutch Eredivisie club Excelsior Rotterdam. We're proud of our good cooperation with Next Gen USA and look forward to continuing our relationship, giving many more American youth players the opportunity to develop themselves.
