ENGLISH U18 TEAMS AND THEIR HOLLAND TOUR

From 31st July till 12th August, 8 English U18 teams visited the Netherlands for a pre-season tour of almost 2 weeks. The teams that have travelled with us are: Birmingham City FC, Rochdale AFC, Grimsby Town FC, Portsmouth FC, Newport County AFC, Crewe Alexandra FC, Sheffield United FC and Leeds United AFC.

Together with League Football Education based in the UK, AcademyTrips arranged the programme of the 8 teams including a lot of football activities and some cultural/fun activities such as a visit of the War Museum and Dutch language sessions. To give you an example of opponents the teams played against: Feyenoord, Vitesse, AZ Alkmaar, FC Dordrecht and some other clubs. All with the aim of giving the English youth players and staff the best possible learning experience.

On Sunday 12th August all 8 English clubs returned home after an amazing 2-week experience in the Netherlands.
On behalf of the organization, we can definitely say the tour was a huge success for all 8 teams. Not only are we very proud that everything went so well, we are also very happy to hear that the teams are satisfied with our services. They’ve all posted some nice comments about the tour on Twitter.

According to the Professional Development Phase Coach of Birmingham City FC, the tour provided the team with ‘an invaluable learning experience on/off the pitch and it created life-long memories for all players and staff’, thus Karl Hooper.

According to Newport County AFC from Wales, the trip was very well organized. According to this club, the players and staff have gained so much knowledge across all areas; technically, tactically, socially, culturally. It was a unique experience for the academy.

We would like to thank all 8 teams for travelling with us and we wish them best of luck with the start of the new season!
