From 31st July till 12th August 2018 a total of 8 English U18 clubs stayed in the Netherlands for a two-week training camp. 2 of these teams, Sheffield United and Leeds United, stayed in Delden at Aparthotel Delden. 1 of the activities during their 2-week programme was a partner session with a Dutch professional club.
The lucky club to be cooperating with Leeds United and Sheffield United was FC Twente. The FC Twente Academy was happy to share a nice news message on their website afterwards to show their gratitude for being able to cooperate with the 2 English clubs. The partner session with FC Twente was divided over 2 days. The first day started with a training session at the academy of FC Twente in Hengelo followed by a lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon the youth coaches of the Dutch club explained something about the methods used by the FC Twente football Academy by showing both English teams a presentation.
Day two was all about training sessions and some interesting conversations between the English coaches and the FC Twente coaches and sharing their thoughts about football together.
Luc Stolker (FC Twente youth trainer) has said the following about the cooperation: ''A lot of positive reactions came from both sides and there will be a great chance we will meet again in the future. We would like to thank all players and staff members off Leeds United and Sheffield United for the nice partnership’’.
