AcademyTrips.com helps youth academies with the development of their players. The ultimate goal of most young players is to make their debut at their club's first team. By organizing trips and tournaments, we try to help youth players by achieving their dream. We are always keeping up with the participants of our tournaments in order to notice the steps they are taking. This week we'd like to congratulate Vancouver Whitecaps FC's Simon Colyn!
Simon was a participant of the Rotterdam Football Cup U15 in 2017. when his team Vancouver Whitecaps FC took the 12th place in the tournament. The Netherlands wasn't an unknown destination for the Canadian midfielder, as his grandparents are living here. This made the tournament one with lots of side-support for Simon.
28 October 2018 was the big day for Simon; his debut in the MLS (Major League Soccer). In the 86th minute Simon entered the match in place of Alphonso Davies. With his 16 years, he became the second youngest ‘Caps player to appear in MLS. Simon made his debut and almost scored his first touch! Academy technical director Craig Dalrymple, who was head coach of Vancouver Whitecaps during this match, was positive about Simon’s first minutes: “He needs a little bit more maturation and time, but there’s certainly a “spark” he brings to the game.”
AcademyTrips.com would like to congratulate Simon with his debut and are excited for what the future will bring him!
