One week away from the tournament’s official kickoff, the ARC Madrid Football Cup 2016 organization presented to the media, different sportsmen and politics the 10 days tournament that will conclude handing over the trophy to the champion next Sunday, September 18th.
The presentation event took place at the Hotel Rafael Madrid Norte where many key figures attended. The tournament, that will be held at the sports centre Valdelasfuentes de Alcobendas received the Sports Councillor of Madrid, Mar Rodriguez Fernandez, who loved the fact that a northern city of Madrid is again hosting a tournament of this nature.
Also attended who came representing the main sponsor of the tournament ARC Broker, and explained the importance of having entered this kind of project. “We wanted to organize a tournament like this one, but we were missing infrastructure, however, we were introduced to Rafael and there was a perfect symbiosis, and here we are now pleased to be the sponsor of this tournament” he said at the time was receiving a commemorative plaque.
Another main figure that attended this presentation was former national coach Vicente del Bosque, who supported the organizers of a tournament that brings together teams from four continents.
Rafael Lopez, addressed the audience to thank the great role of the sponsors on making this event happen . He was excited to continue organizing an event of this nature and for having many teams from around the world interested. “We already have applications from Australian teams for next year.” He also wanted to talk about the upcoming girls edition tournament. “Our goal goes beyond this tournament. We are now organizing something similar but for women, it will be also an international tournament either in March or April of 2017, for the U-16 category and I’m sure will also be a success.”
The presentation was attended as well by Pablo Sanz, assistant coach of Julen Lopetegui in the National Spanish football team, Michel, former Rayo Vallecano and current director of the youth academy of the same team, Paco Buyo, former Real Madrid player and former basketball player Iñaki de Miguel.
The presence of the media was noticeable, different channels attended for later reflecting the event and the statements of the main figures.
Now we can officially say that the ARC Madrid Football Cup 2016 is on the roll. There are only seven days left for the first game’s kickoff, but from right now the teams will start arriving to their hotels. The teams will begin the tournament on September 16th to try to take away the title from Sporting Clube de Portugal, who was last year’s champion.
